  • The Taishō Era (大正時代, Taishō jidai) was a period in the history of Japan from 30 July 1912 to 25 December 1926, coinciding with the reign of Emperor Taishō. The new emperor was a sickly man, which led to a shift in political power from the old oligarchic group of elder statesmen (or genrō) to the Imperial Diet of Japan and the democratic parties.

Seto is one of the world's most famous and rare production areas, with pottery having been produced continuously for almost 1000 years. In Japan, the word "setomono" means "pottery". The term comes from Seto ware, which has been at the forefront of pottery production throughout Japan's long history of pottery making. The origins of Seto ware come from the Sanage kilns, which produced Sue ware in the second half of the fifth century in the area now known as the Higashiyama Hills of Nagoya.

  • As with any antique, this piece should be treated with care to preserve its history. This is not to say that it is not to be used, but you should avoid putting it in the dishwasher or microwave to prolong its life. We recommend hand washing with a mild detergent and drying after each use.
